Dear Editor:
As EMS Director for Jersey City Medical Center I want to publicly thank the New York Mets Organization for giving us the honor of presenting the colors at Citi Field on May 24 alongside the heroes of the Boston EMS Department. The courage and valor of the Boston EMS shinned through the tragic events that took place in Boston just a few weeks ago. Suffice it to say, the Boston EMS Department is a model for the nation and we in Jersey City believe we mirror their outstanding operation.
It’s especially fitting the Mets acknowledged us with this prestigious honor during National EMS Week, a time when we recognize the service of EMS providers across the country. JCMC has the oldest EMS unit in the State of New Jersey, providing quality, pre-hospital medicine for over 130 years. Moreover, JCMC is the only state designated trauma center in Hudson County. We are proud to be the first triply-accredited EMS agency in the country, with accreditations in dispatch, operations and education.
EMS providers across the country are always on call and their services are vital to the communities they serve and the JCMC EMS is no exception. As a not-for-profit institution, our EMS unit provides lifesaving care that always puts patients above profits. No matter the size or scale of an emergency, JCMC EMS stands ready to serve the needs of both Hudson County and wherever our services are needed in a crisis.
Boston’s EMS went above and beyond the call of duty and we are grateful to the NY Mets Organization for highlighting the vital role EMS providers play in providing our communities with quality emergency medical care.
Robert Luckritz,
Director of JCMC EMS
