Mock, Shaw, Woods rev up Rockets

After slipping to (3-3), the Comets hoped to right the ship as they faced the Rockets (2-2-1) in their week five Jewish Community Center of Bayonne’s Indoor Soccer Senior Division showdown. The game seesawed out to a 1-1 tie as the Rockets’ Chris Shaw blasted a net-to-net goal, followed by Michael Lago assisting Alexandro Gonzalez on the Comets’ game-knitting goal. Cemented at one-all, the Comets tortured the Rockets’ goaltender with one blistering shot after another as James Bajor, Allen McComb, Joshua Verzosa and Alexandro Gonzalez put the Rockets’ Chris Shaw to the test. While the Comets blasted shots, the Rockets’ Meghann Mock stepped in to stall the charge and turn the tide. After surviving the barrage, the Rockets’ Madison Neal Markowski turned a quick pass from Hailry Bouillon into a goal, making it 2-1, Rockets. In spite of the low score, the slugfest continued as both squads turned their attentions to scoring with Drew Radil, Natallyah Teixeira, and Eliott Santana getting into the mix for the Comets. Mackenzie Woods, Kaitlin Morrell and Colin Woods fueled the Rockets’ attack. Right from the opening whistle, it was clear that the Rockets’ Colin Woods was on a mission as he zipped up and down the court. His hard work finally paid off as Colin Woods poured in two game-clinching goals off an assist from Madison Neal Markowski. Leading 4-1, the Rockets’ defense hunkered down to secure a huge Senior Division victory.
