Funeral mass was celebrated March 11 at Holy Rosary Church, Jersey City, for Giovanni Trotta, 84, of Jersey City. He passed away March 5 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Paterson. Born in Sassano, Italy, to the late Antonio and Giovannina Trotta, he lived in Jersey City since 1966. He was the former co-owner/operator of John and Joe’s Gas Station on the corner of Newark Avenue and Fourth Street in downtown Jersey City. He was the husband of Frances; uncle of Antonio Trotta of Italy, Antonio, Giovanni, Marylou and Giuseppe Trotta of Venezula, Dr. Gennaro, Anthony and Gennaro, Esq. Rubino, Cara Zibbell and Maria Cornhill. He is also survived by many grand nieces and nephews. His brothers, Gesualdo and Giuseppe Trotta predecease him.
