Funeral services took place March 9 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Jersey City, for Betty Jean George Blue. She passed away Feb. 27 in Statesville, N.C. In 1998 Betty used her love of cooking and her entreprenurial spirit to open up Queen D’s Restaurant at 2 Garfield Avenue in Jersey City, named in honor of her late Mother Deloris Hall George. Betty was co-owner with her Brother Lee V. George and other siblings. She and her siblings served many folks in Jersey City as well as outside of the Jersey City with their love and well prepared Southern style cooking. She was the mother of Adonis Blue; grandmother of Adonis Blue, Jr.; sister of Lee V. George, Jr., Doraleen Rucker, Cenovia Murray, Lorraine Bittings, Maxine Chester and Renee George; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
