Division of Recreation announces registration for junior and senior women’s softball leagues

Mayor Mark A. Smith has announced that the Division of Recreation has begun registration for the 2013 Junior Division of the Women’s Softball League, as well as the 2013 Senior Division of the same league.

The fee for the Junior Women’s Softball League is $5 per player, while the fee for the Senior League is $30. The fees collected will go towards the costs of running the program. The fee is non-refundable.

The Junior Division of the Women’s Softball League is open to all students in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades. Students in the fifth grade and below are ineligible. Players will be guaranteed to play at least 2 innings.

Rosters of up to 20 players may be submitted at the City Hall Parks Office any weekday from 8:30 a.m.to 4:30 p.m. Rosters must be complete with name, address and telephone number of all players.
To be eligible, a player must be either a Bayonne resident or currently attending a Bayonne elementary school. The Junior Women’s Softball League is solely run by the City of Bayonne Division of Recreation, and does not have any affiliation with the Bayonne Board of Education.

The junior league is tentatively set to begin on Monday, April 8, 2013. ROSTERS AND MONEY FOR ALL TEAMS IS DUE THURSDAY, MARCH 28, 2013. Junior league games will be played weekdays at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at 16th Street Diamond #3 & Gorman Field. Games also will be played on Saturdays. Coaches are asked to indicate on the top of their roster any dates or times that their team is unable to play.

There will be a mandatory coach/team meeting for the junior league on Thursday, March 21 at 7 p.m. at 597 Broadway. If you have any questions, please call Pete Amadeo @ (201) 858-6129.
For the senior league, girls attending elementary school or having just completed elementary school are ineligible.

The senior league is tentatively set to begin on Monday, April 15, 2013. Rosters and money for teams is due Friday, April 5.
