Palisades Medical Center to open new pediatrics unit

NORTH BERGEN – A new Pediatrics Unit is under construction at Palisades Medical Center, and it is scheduled to officially open the beginning of March. The new unit has been reconstructed from floor to ceiling to provide young patients with beautiful and comfortable rooms designed to enhance the healing process. The new unit also includes expanded amenities, four additional patient beds, a playroom, and a new security system.
PMC has experienced a 77 percent increase in pediatric patients during the past three years.
“Our new Pediatrics Unit will feature a better healing environment for our youngest patients with patient-focused amenities, including areas for family games and activities,” said Bruce J. Markowitz, President and CEO of PMC. “The new unit will enable our Pediatrics Department to better manage its resources and services to ensure a specialized, child-friendly environment is always available for our community.”
The opening of the new Pediatric Unit is PMC’s latest improvement of services for children. Last year, PMC formed a new clinical affiliation with Hackensack University Health Network (Hackensack UHN) that has enabled PMC to reorganize its Neonatal Level 2 Nursery. The Neonatal Level 2 Nursery provides 24/7 neonatology services and enables PMC’s Maternity Center to effectively address clinically complex cases. PMC’s Maternity Unit recently received a perfect 5-Star-Rating from the nation’s leading independent healthcare ratings company.
“Palisades Medical Center’s new Pediatric Unit will be the first choice for practitioners and patients alike in Hudson County,” said Omar Baker, MD of Riverside Pediatric Group. “Caring for our kids is our most important duty as physicians and Palisades Medical Center is committed to this by evidence of the most recent expansion and renovation of what is now the best pediatric unit in all of Hudson County.”
