After what Police Chief Ralph Scianni called “an intense investigation,” Bayonne police charged Jonathan Jeffery, 25, of Bayonne, and David J. Emanuel Jr., 26, of Kearny, with armed robbery connected with two Bayonne tavern robberies, and Scianni said detectives are trying to determine if the two men were involved with another similar burglary in Harrison, where one of them was apprehended with the help of the North Arlington Police.
Charges against the two men include alleged violence to a bartender and a patron at Massa’s Tavern during a robbery on Jan. 19. The men are also charged with allegedly robbing Hendrickson’s Restaurant on Jan. 22 where the victims were shown a handgun. Jeffery allegedly had a bb gun in his possession at the time of his arrest.
Emanuel also faces charges for altering the Vin number of a white Honda Civic believed to have been used as a the getaway vehicle.
“This arrest was the result of old time detective work,” Scianni said. “No stone was left unturned and we have the full cooperation of the North Arlington Police Department that assisted us and aided us in the arrest of Jeffery in Harrison.”

Robert Gutch, 48, of Bayonne, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident after he allegedly crashed into several parked cars while driving from the area of 43rd Street and Avenue E to where he was arrested on Broadway and 48th Street on Feb. 8 at about 10:48 p.m.
Gutch, police said, may have allegedly been under the influence of prescription drugs at the time of the accident, and was transported to Bayonne Medical Center as a precaution and where blood was drawn, said Police Chief Ralph Scianni.
Sharif Eldesouk, 23, of Jersey City, was arrested on Feb. 7 and charged with intent to distribute oxycontin within 500 feet of a housing project and 1,000 feet of a school after police allegedly found him in possession of 15 pills near Third Street and Lord Avenue.

Tracy C. Lloyd-Knott, 46, and Louis T. Murphy, 31, both of Bayonne were charged after an argument on Kennedy Boulevard over who would buy cigarettes and beer escalated into violence on Feb. 4, according to a Bayonne police report.
A police spokesperson said Lloyd-Knott has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, unlawful possession of a weapon after allegedly slashing Murphy with a small green folding razor knife. Lloyd-Knott was also found to have outstanding warrants for unpaid fines of $2,500 and was sent to the Hudson County Correction Facility in Kearny.
Murphy, the alleged victim, was arrested after being treated at Bayonne Medical Center for multiple lacerations to his left hand and face, was found to have $3,000 in unpaid fines to Bayonne Municipal Court and $451 in unpaid fines to Weehawken Municipal Court. He was also sent to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
Jose A. Soto-Taveras, 21, of Jersey City, was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams after a motor vehicle stop for a broken tail light on Feb. 5 near 19th Street and Avenue C. He was also issued a summons for the broken tail light as well as failure to provide the necessary paperwork.
Kenneth C. Kates, 25, of Jersey City, was charged with driving while intoxicated after a motor vehicle stop near 42nd Street and Avenue B at about 7:28 p.m. on Feb. 5. A police spokesperson said patrol officers pulled over Kates’ car when they allegedly saw it traveling southbound on Avenue B at a high rate of speed and when the car swerved over the center line. Kates was taken to Bayonne Medical Center for a blood test. He was also issued summonses for reckless driving, driving without using a seat belt, no registration on the car, no insurance and failure to maintain a lane.
