North Bergen Free Public Library presents events and reading incentive
Mayor Nicholas J. Sacco, the Board of Trustees, and Library Director Mrs. Sai Rao have announced the library’s winter/spring programs, which began on Jan. 14 and run through June 14. The programs vary, and are intended for audiences from early childhood to teens and adults.
Registration is open to North Bergen and Guttenberg residents. Residents interested must register in person, and proof of age and residency is required. Registration is limited and began on Monday, Jan. 7 at 9 a.m. The North Bergen Public Library is located at 8411 Bergenline Ave.

Palermo Pizzeria & Restaurant has joined with The North Bergen Free Public Library’s Reading Incentive Program. The restaurant is located at 7407 Broadway and will give away a free slice of cheese pizza to any child once 10 books are checked-out. Upcoming Care-A-Van Screening event
North Bergen’s Continental Drugs, 7211 Broadway, will sponsor a Care-A-Van screening on Thursday, Jan. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Guests will take a glimpse into the life and times of Albert Einstein with MEC’s Dr. Victoria Madden on Thursday, Jan. 24 from 2 to 3 p.m., which is open to all ages. The event is called “Einstein – The Man Behind the Science” which will allow guests to learn about the revolutionary physicist’s education, philosophy and family life. In addition to discussion, guests will examine a collection of Einstein memorabilia. Admission is $5 and $4 for MEC members. It will be held at the Meadowlands Environment Center which is located at 2 DeKorte Park Plaza in Lyndshurst.

Guttenberg announces Senior Bus Schedule
Seniors can take advantage of the town’s free bus service to visit various shopping locations from Monday through Friday. Guttenberg seniors can be picked up at 69th and Broadway; 68th and Boulevard East, 7005 Boulevard East, 7000 Boulevard East; 69th and Park Ave.; along with all of 68th or 70th Westbound to Bergenline.

Hudson Riverfront Performing Arts Center announces first concert of 2013
The UBS Atrium Series will present its first concert of the new year, featuring the Cosmopolitan Chamber Trio on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 12:30 p.m. The Hudson Riverfront Performing Arts Center (HRPAC) presents this series of free lunchtime concerts in the Atrium at 1000 Harbor Boulevard in Weehawken.
The Cosmopolitan Chamber Trio is comprised of three exceptionally talented virtuosi – violinist Eric Grossman, pianist Gleb Ivanov, and saxophonist and composer Russell Peterson. Collectively they have won numerous prizes and awards and appeared at many renowned venues around the world. They will collaborate on a program of great diversity and interest, featuring the New Jersey premiere of Mr. Peterson’s own trio for saxophone, violin and piano. Another highlight will be Sweet Cecimar by Cuban composer Jorge Lopez Marin. Pieces by Maurice Ravel and Dmitri Shostakovich will round out this afternoon of masterful music-making.
