McNAMARA, URSULA

A funeral mass took place Jan. 17 at SS. Peter and Paul R.C. Church, Hoboken, for Ursula McNamara, 91, of Hoboken. She passed away Jan. 13 at the Hamilton Health Care Facilities in Jersey City. Born in Cork City, Ireland, Ursula immigrated to Greenwich Village New York at the age of eight, finally settling in Hoboken where she was a resident for some 65 years. Mrs. McNamara retired after 30 years as a ward clerk at St. Mary’s Hospital in Hoboken. Ursula was awarded Irish Woman of the Year for her great spirit and devotion to the city of Hoboken and her country of her birth. She was predeceased by her husband Patrick in 2001. Surviving are her children, Barry and his wife Fran, Patricia and her husband Steve, and Tim and his wife Dianna. A great joy in her life were her six grandchildren Melissa, Tracy, Hannah, Jaz, Christian, and Kennedy and her two great grandchildren Lucy, and Logan. She will be missed by her friends Carmen, Andy, and Barbara. Services arranged by the Failla Memorial Home, Hoboken.
