Funeral services were held Nov. 10 for Raymond T. “Ted” Lukachyk, 80, of Sarasota, Fla., He passed away Oct. 30 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, Fla. Raymond was born in Jersey City and resided there as well as Highlands before moving to Sarasota 25 years ago. He was a police officer with the Jersey City Police Dept. and retired in 1973 after 24 years of service. He was the former president of the Sandy Hook Little League, member of the VFW Post 6902 and American Legion Post 143 in Highlands, and a member of the State Retired Police and Fire Association.
Raymond was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army. Surviving are his wife, Frieda Bruhn Lukachyk; four sons, Theodore and wife Yoko Lukachyk, Stephen and wife Natalie Lukachyk, Scott and wife Janet Lukachyk and Robert and wife Arlene Lukachyk; three daughters, Christine and husband William McCarthy, Barbara and husband Donald Hauser and Susanne and husband Michael Curry; two brothers, Harry and Robert Lukachyk; sister, Joan Kozolowski; and 17 grandchildren and a great grandchild. He was predeceased by his parents, Theodore and Sophie Lukachyk and his sister Theresa Lukachyk. Services arranged by Posten’s Funeral Home, Atlantic Highlands.
