Free bird: JC Councilman to give away turkeys for Thanksgiving

JERSEY CITY – This weekend, Jersey City Councilman Steven Fulop will distribute 4,000 free turkeys to Jersey City residents who can’t afford a Thanksgiving meal this year.
“These are tough economic times and many have been affected by Hurricane Sandy. But there is no reason that every family shouldn’t be able to have a family thanksgiving together. This year is our largest distribution of 4,000 turkeys so there shouldn’t be a request that is not met,” Fulop said in a statement released Tuesday. “If you are interested in picking up a free large turkey to help for your thanksgiving please fill out the form and someone from my office will be in touch with you.”
To facilitate the turkey give away, Fulop is asking people to fill out an online form at http://stevenfulop.com/steven-fulop-thanksgiving-turkeys. One turkey will be permitted per family.
Charity groups looking for bigger donations of turkey donations can call Councilman Fulop directly at (732) 895-7379.
The turkeys will be distributed on Saturday, Nov. 17.
