North Bergen – Updates within the township are ongoing. The majority of the town now has power that was restored by PSE&G. If residents still have their power out, report it to PSE&G by calling 1-800-436-7734 . As of yesterday, Thursday, Nov. 1 Town Hall remained closed due to a power outage. Although property taxes were due yesterday, there is a ten day grace period to accept payments. The DPW have cleared streets within the town except for 76 street between Bergenline and Hudson Avenue. The township is still waiting for PSE&G to clear high power lines at that location. Light poles have been installed as a means to increase night time visibility for drivers and pedestrians. The NB Help Desk is currently back and running. Garbage and Recycling services are back to their regular schedules. Alternate side and residential parking regulations remain suspended for the rest of the week. Shelters at North Bergen High School and Kennedy School are still open and stocked with power, heat, food and drinks to residents that are still without power. If transportation is needed to be taken to a shelter contact the police at (201) 392-2100 . Palisades General Medical Center, The Senior Citizen Nutrition Center and North Bergen Public Library are open.
All North Bergen public schools will be open Monday, November 5th, except for the North Bergen Pre-School, which sustained fire damage and is closed until further notice.
At this time the town plans on having all regular polling places open for Election Day on Tuesday, November 6th. Emergency Operations Center will remain open through the weekend.
Residents are assured that tap water is safe to drink.
North Bergen Pee Wee Football and Traveling Teams: Giants, Eagles, Raiders, Tryouts have been cancelled for Saturday, Nov. 3. Recreation Girls Basketball Traveling Team Tryouts have also been cancelled for Nov. 3 and Nov. 4.
The following facilities are open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in order for residents to charge their electronic devices: all North Bergen public schools except the Pre-School along with Recreation Center.
“We are all still feeling the effects of Hurricane Sandy and need to keep working together to make it through the next several days,” said Mayor Sacco on his facebook page. “I would like to thank our entire emergency response team for the incredible work they have done and also the residents for showing amazing resiliency in the face of this challenge. PSE&G has restored power to about two-thirds of North Bergen. We are continuing to work with them to get all areas restored as soon as possible. We will not stop pushing until every single home in the township has regained power.”

Unfortunately the town does not have a specific list of open gas stations due to the varying power and fuel supply issues at individual stations.
