New date for Hoboken park ribbon cutting

HOBOKEN — The Mama Johnson Field ribbon cutting ceremony in Hoboken will take place on Oct. 18 at 4 p.m. at 400 Harrison St. The ceremony will be joined by a resident appreciation day. Festivities for residents and visitors will run from 3 to 6 p.m. The rain date for this event is Oct 23.
The original date for the ribbon cutting was Oct. 9 but due to weather delays, the completion of the project took longer than expected, officials said.
The field was expanded to be a multipurpose field that will host the girls softball program, PAL grunts football and instructional soccer program. It received a new drainage system, new dugouts, bleacher, a new fence, scoreboard and batting cages and new lighting as well as a new surface which will be safer, better and good for all sports and activities.
