Update: council meeting evacuation

The Secaucus Town Council meeting was evacuated on Sept. 11 after a resident apparently left behind an unattended bag. Police called in the Hudson County Sheriff’s K-9 unit, which found nothing suspicious.
The owner of the bag returned within that time period and told police officers that he had left to go speak to someone, according to Sgt. Thomas O’Keefe. He declined medical treatment and was released within an hour, according to O’Keefe. He was not considered a threat to himself or others.
According to the resident in question, he left the council chambers to tell a friend about a job fair for UPS that a councilman had mentioned during the meeting.
Meanwhile, last week’s article mentioned that police discovered that there was a warrant from Bayonne out for the man. Police clarified that the warrant was a bench warrant for a traffic offense.
