‘Safe Kids Day’
“Safe Kids Day” in Guttenberg will be Saturday, Sept. 8. All Guttenberg residents are cordially invited on behalf of Mayor Gerald Drasheff and the Town Council. The event will take place between the hours of 12 and 5 p.m. on Boulevard East (68th to 71st Streets). There will be music, food, demonstrations and a Michael Jackson impersonator. If it rains, the event will be on Sunday, Sept. 9.
Library events
The following events are coming up at the North Bergen library:
Urologist Daniel Simon, MD will conduct a medical seminar at the library on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. The event is part of the library’s Wellness Wednesdays, and is also part of Holy Name Medical Center’s Hispanic Outreach Program.
Serious Cinema, hosted by Wilson Santos, is a monthly film screening and discussion that will show “The Piano Tuner of Earthquakes.” The film is by the Quay Brothers and will begin at 7:30 p.m on Wednesday, Sept. 12.
A free college admissions seminar will also take place on Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This is presented by Pearl Glassman Educational Counseling. It is open to parents and high school students who are planning to attend college. The seminar will teach college applicants how to successfully navigate the college admissions process, understand how colleges assess potential students and learn what to look for when visiting schools.

Volunteers needed for CASA
Are you interested in helping children in the foster care system? If so, Hudson County CASA is currently recruiting volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children. CASA works through trained community volunteers to insure that needed services and assistance are made available to children while helping to move them toward safe and permanent homes.
CASA (court appointed special advocate) and its volunteers speak for children in court, serve as fact finders for the judges and safeguard the interests of the children while they are in the foster care system.
If interested, attend an information session to learn more about the program and the role of its volunteers. A session will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 11 from 6 to 7 p.m. in room 400 of the Hudson County Administration Building at 595 Newark Avenue, Jersey City.
