Funeral mass took place Sept. 1 at Holy Rosary Church, Jersey City, for John J. Caruso, Jr., 69, a lifelong resident of Jersey City. He passed away surrounded by his family on Aug. 26. John founded Caruso Construction in downtown Jersey City over 50 years ago. He was passionate about his work, an innovator in the construction industry and to work alongside his sons John J. Caruso, III and Joseph L. Caruso. John would often volunteer his labor to local charitable organizations and his neighbors. John was the husband for 35 years to Carol; father of John J. Caruso, III ‘Lil John,’ Joseph L. Caruso, Mary Caruso, Bernice Caruso Donato and Gina Caruso Torres; grandfather of John J. Caruso IV, Samantha E. Caruso, Nicole Lore, Jillian Lore, John Donato Jr., Isabella Donato, Paul J. Campagna, Michael Campagna, Megan Lorre; great grandfather of Nikolas Lore, Tyler Lore and Emily Campagna; dear brother of Margaret Dechert and Claire Ardito; also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
