WEST NEW YORK AND BEYOND — After West New York Mayor Felix Roque was arrested by the FBI a few months ago in connection with allegedly hacking into an anti-Roque web site, West New York Commissioner Count Wiley announced that he would like to run a recall election against the mayor and replace him.
But Wiley had a curious job in his past that had been rumored ever since he first ran with Roque for the Board of Commissioners in 2010. The rumor was that Wiley had once danced in a strip club.
Wiley confirmed the story in an interview to run in the West New York Reporter this weekend, but said he only danced twice as a teenager and decided he didn’t like it.
“I’m never going to lie to the people, so I’ll be honest,” he says in the story. “When I was 19, I had a cousin who did it and he said it was a quick way to make a dollar.”
After dancing twice, he gave it up.
“I’m a Christian, I’m a professional, and I’m a doctor,” Wiley says. “I was so young and it was nothing I liked, and it was something I did that has no bearing on who I am today.”
Wiley also discusses the steps he will take in the recall election.
