Dear Editor:
It has been several weeks since Occupy Jersey City has requested your [Fulop’s] updated position on Goldman Sachs and Wall Street. We have yet to see if you still fully support this well known financial institution that heavily pays political figures to gain favors in office. We want to know if you have changed your position to now support the people, or do you plan to continue the Goldman Sachs agenda?
The people want to know your position. When you do respond, please make sure there will be no more reported threats from your well paid and/or unpaid staff. One of the activists of Jersey City says he was threatened and intimidated by your supporter. While we hope you are ultimately not behind this, we implore you to come forward and condemn all alleged and actual threats to your critics coming from your team. Terror in all its forms must be stopped, whether illegal occupations and wars abroad, corporate terror, or vulgar, dangerous threats. Components of your political machine must act with civility.
Unemployment rates are increasing exponentially and an insecure future for new comers seems to hide in every corner of our streets. Homelessness is becoming part of the norm in Journal Square. Reasonable policy requires more contemplation to address any of these issues.
We wonder how you justify the vilification of your political opponents when you knowingly accepted the campaign contributions of one of the largest waterfront developers, Lefrak. Tell us Mr. Fulop, why would a Bronx developer, Flocco donate to your campaign in 2009? The same developer that appeared two years later behind the McGinley Square Redevelopment project which originally included an eminent domain. Why would DeCotiis, from the lobbyist firm for Spectra Energy, donate to your campaign? It is no surprise that hedge fund billionaire David Tepper, an ex-Goldman Sachs employee and his partner contributed over $15,000 to the Board of Ed candidates that you supported. Your relationship with Fairview Insurance raises questions. Mr. Fulop, you are an elitist 1 percent politician disguised as one of the people which makes you worse than the status quo. A hypocrite reformer that does not hold our best interest at heart and a danger to the 99 percent.
