Funeral mass was offered July 27 at St. Anne’s R.C. Church, Jersey City, for Thomas Francis Dolan, Jr., 85. He passed away peacefully at his home on July 23 following a prolonged struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Thomas was born in Jersey City and retired to Gainesville, Fla. in 2004 after working at the Joseph Dixon Crucible Company for 40 years and the City of Jersey City for 15 years. Thomas was a member of the St. Anne’s Holy Name Society and was active in the Catholic Church throughout his life. He became an active community leader following his retirement from Dixon’s and he was an avid Giant football fan and season ticket holder for more than 50 years. Thomas was the son of Helen and Thomas Dolan and brother of Margaret Bovasso, and the deceased Helen Winters. He is survived by Marie, his wife of 58 years, and their five children and their spouses, Thomas and Nina Dolan, Teresa and Stanley Given, Margaret Mary and John Zampini, Edward and Stephanie Dolan, and James and Kristina Dolan. Thomas’ large and family also includes eight grandchildren, Andrea Astorino and Justin Dolan, Daniel and Christopher Zampini, Victoria Given, Cameron and Luke Dolan, and Ben Dolan, as well as two great grandchildren Ella and Emmy Astorino and nieces Carol Szemborski and Sharon del Prete and nephew Donald Winters.
