Funeral services were held July 7 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Jersey City, for Audrey E. Jackson. She passed away June 30 at home, with her daughter and soninlaw by her side, after a long illness. She was the owner of Jackson Funeral Residence in Jersey City.
A Perth Amboy native, Audrey left her job at Perth Amboy General Hospital where she worked as a registered nurse for a modeling career. She successfully modeled for the Society Unlimited Models, Inc. and was featured on many billboards and advertisements throughout the metropolitan area. As a Special Agent recruiting at Prudential Insurance Company, Audrey received many accolades and was recognized as a Million Dollar Producer for the company.
In 1960, Audrey married the late Herbert A. Jackson and together they traveled the world extensively. She earned a degree in Business Administration from Farleigh Dickenson University where she graduated summa cum laude and matriculated to the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service where she earned a degree in Mortuary Science.
Audrey worked side by side with her husband as a licensed funeral director at the Jackson Funeral Residence, assisting families during their time of bereavement. Mrs. Jackson was a 50 year member of the Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church. She served as President of the Hudson County Funeral Directors Association, President of the New Jersey Chapter of The Girl Friends Inc. and President of the Hudson County Juvenile Committee. She also served on the Lutheran Church Council and the Hudson County Board of Planned Parenthood as well as many other local, state and national organizations.
Surviving to cherish Audrey’s memory are her and daughter Rosalyn A. Browne, soninlaw Colin D. Browne; brother, Howard Dillard; two sisters, Doris Jones and Patricia Dillard, a host of nieces, nephews; brotherinlaw, Bishop Henry E. Browne; sisterinlaw, Emma Dillard and countless other relatives, friends, colleagues and staff who will all miss her sweet smile. Services arranged by the Jackson Funeral Residence, Jersey City.
