All Saints graduates historic first eighth grade class

History was made at All Saints Episcopal Day School in Hoboken on Tuesday, June 19, as the school celebrated the graduation of its first eighth grade class. The ceremony honored the accomplishments of the five members of the Class of 2012 and marked another chapter in All Saints’ journey from a tiny preschool at its founding in 1985 to a full early childhood, elementary school and middle school today.
“Our eighth graders have demonstrated again and again that the mission of our school – combining academic excellence and social responsibility – yields young adults who are ready to build a better future for all,” said Jill Singleton, the All Saints Head of School. “Twenty-seven years ago a group of founding parents took a leap of faith and made a special commitment to this school’s unique mission, and these graduating Eighth Graders are truly a fulfillment of that commitment.”
Students from the first graduating class have been accepted into many of the area’s most elite high schools, including Convent of the Sacred Heart, Nightingale-Bamford and the Calhoun School, to name a few. The students will take exceptional academic training with them in their further pursuits, but that’s not all.
When asked to write about the most important lesson learned at All Saints, one student wrote: “The greatest lesson I learned at All Saints is to always be honest with yourself and to know that you can achieve anything as long as you put your mind to it. All Saints has taught me to enjoy my days at school by giving me a sincere love of learning.” Another student wrote, “I learned that giving 99 percent is not enough – always give 100 percent.”
