Unhappy, but willing to give Lyles a chance

Dear Editor:
On Thursday, I had the opportunity to attend the school board meeting in Jersey City and I am highly upset with the school board about their decision to make Dr. Lyles the next superintendent. I would like to thank Sterling Waterman, Marilyn Roman and Angel Valentin for voting no and thinking about our 28,000 plus children in Jersey City. I’m very disappointed with the rest of the board members playing politics with our children. After hearing public comments tonight from the public and school board members, I learned we need to come together as one to help our children.
Bickering back and forth will do nothing but make our children suffer even more. I am against Dr. Lyles but I can’t let her stand in my way. I’m willing to work with Dr. Lyles and see what she has to offer for our children. Dr. Epps has failed our children enough, that’s why he is gone; now let’s see what she can do.
I campaigned for President Sue Mack, VP Marvin Adames, Carol Harrison Arnold, Sangetta Ranade, Vidya Gangadin, Carol Lester and Sterling Waterman. The board comprises of Team Fulop. I’m proud to continue to stand by Councilman Steve Fulop and I’m hoping our children will get the help they need. Even though I’m against Fulop on this issue, there are still issues facing this city by the current administration that needs to be taking care of, such as property tax relief, more youth programs, police foot patrols, and an end to corruption and more. I know there are still a lot of angry people out there but let’s remember we need to stick together if we want our children to succeed. I will be closely monitoring Dr. Lyle’s decision making for our children.
