Two events at library

North Bergen Public Library is having a monthly reading series called Literature Lives and an Open Mic night on June 27 at 7 p.m. The featured artists will be Kabu, Phoebe Farber, and Francis Mateo with Wilson Santos as the host. The event will be held at 8411 Bergenline Ave.

Also, Dennis Regan, who has appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman and is the writer for The CBS sitcom The King of Queens, will have a show at the North Bergen Public Library on Thursday, June 28 at 8 p.m. The doors will open at 7:30 p.m. with free admission.

Municipal pool opens full-time

Summer has come and now the municipal pool complex has begun its full time hours. Members can enjoy the pool weekdays from 12 to 8 p.m. as well as weekends and holidays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The pool is located at 2111 91st St. in North Bergen.

NHCAC announces registration for new programs

North Hudson Community Action Corporation celebrates National Community Action Month by announcing the beginning of its new programs.
They will offer two semesters of free English as a Second Language classes. The summer semester begins in June, and the fall semester in September. Call (201) 943-2410 for more information or to register.

Free help at Dvine Konektion’s community fair

The Dvine Konektion Community Development Corporation will hold a free community fair on the third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 5516 Jefferson St. in West New York. Residents of West New York, North Bergen, Union City, Weehawken and Guttenberg are welcome to attend the next event on July 21. Groceries and baby supplies will be distributed, and various medical screenings and other services are offered.

Palisades Medical Center’s Casino Night Set for Aug. 23

On Aug. 23, Waterside Restaurant in North Bergen is creating an event for all municipalities in Hudson and Bergen Counties. Waterside will be transformed into a Las Vegas-style casino for Palisades Medical Center’s sixth Annual Casino Night. The event will begin with dinner from 6 to 7 p.m. Gambling will take place from 7 to 10:30 p.m. which will be followed by the drawing of a Super 50-50 and other raffle prizes.
Casino Night admission is $100 per person and includes a buffet dinner (beer, wine and soda) and $150 in casino chips for guests. The guests can try to tempt lady luck at either Blackjack, Texas Hold ‘Em, Poker, Craps, Roulette and much more. Additional chips can also be purchased throughout the evening. Guests will be able to redeem chips at the end of the event for raffle prize tickets.
Casino Night is planned and organized by the Palisades Medical Center’s Auxiliary, a team of dedicated volunteers that work throughout the year to support the Palisades Medical Center Foundation.
