Dear Editor:
The action taken by the Hudson County Democratic Political Machine in denying the Democratic Organization line to the county committed candidates of West New York Mayor Dr. Felix Roque is no accident. This was the plan of the machine from the time Dr. Roque defeated Sal Vega in the municipal election of 2011. Let’s look at recent history.
Sal Vega allowed himself to be used by the machine as a state senate candidate against the very popular Union City Mayor, Brian Stack. This did not work when Brian Stack was nominated as the candidate for the State Senate by the largest margin of votes in the history of the county. The next plan of the machine was to re-district the senatorial district by taking West New York away from Brian Stack and placing West New York in the district of Mayor-Senator Nick Sacco. Again the purpose was to weaken Stack and strengthen Sacco. This plan backfired when Brian Stack again won election by a margin of votes much larger than that of Nick Sacco. Then last year Dr. Felix Roque defeats Sal Vega in the West New York Municipal election which is another defeat for Sacco who now lost his power and control in West New York.
Since Dr. Felix Roque has been friendly to Brain Stack and has not allowed Nick Sacco to control West New York the present plan put into action was for Sacco to field a slate of candidates for county committed in the West New York primary election. Should the Sacco committed candidates win, Sacco can claim a victory in West New York.
So the position to be taken by the voters of West New York is clear. In the Democratic Primary election to be held on Tuesday June 5th, 2012, the people must vote only for the committee candidates of Dr. Felix Roque. By taking this action the people of West New York will be saying to Nick Sacco and the political Machine “No, enough is enough.” West New York Belongs to the people of West New York, it is not for sale to North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco. By electing the Dr. Felix Roque candidates and defeating the Sacco Candidates the people of West New York will be saying we support Brian Stack and not Nick Sacco. Yes, enough is enough!
