Dear Editor:
The next time you happen to be walking or park your car in the central business area, you will see that all the large planters contain newly-planted flowers. These were planted on Saturday by the Girl Scouts as part of the Town’s Project Pride.
I would like to thank the Girl Scouts and their leaders for helping to make this day so successful. They met me early in the morning, equipped with their gardening tools and plenty of enthusiasm, and “dug right in” to plant the lovely begonias which will beautify our central business district throughout the summer months. This particular begonia, the dragon-wing begonia, will thrive and multiply to fill in the planters with pink and red blossoms that will last up until the first frost.
I also want to thank Frank Sasso of our DPW for his expertise in selecting this colorful flowering plant, and Bobby Roesing and Michael Bronowich for their assistance with the planting.
I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge Mother Nature for supplying such a beautiful day for Project Pride. The weather was simply perfect – sunny skies, cool breezes and comfortable temperatures. We could not have asked for a more beautiful day!
Again, I want to express my appreciation to the Girl Scouts and their leaders for taking part in Project Pride and adding to the beautification of our central business district.
