Drilling at 3a.m.!!

Dear Editor:
This past week, everyone who spoke to me at 2 Marineview Plaza was kept awake by loud street drilling until 3 a.m.
When I tried to call the police, they referred me to City Hall, stating that the Mayor (Dawn Zimmer) had “signed off on the order,” feeling that this was a ‘discountable” constituency.
This is a public official with a home and a family in a residential section of town. We at Marineview, have homes and families. I waited three and a half years on a waiting list to move into my apartment.
I stay aware of political and environmental developments in town and try to remain an informed voter.
The person who spoke to me from the Mayor’s office did not apologize for the disturbance.
Why not do this work during the day when people are working? I received no reply.
I voted for the current mayor and am appalled by the insensitivity and arrogance of her representative on the phone. Like I was in the wrong about complaining about street drilling at 3 a.m.
We are residents and voters and should be respected as such.

Sincerely,
Jean Forest
