HOBOKEN — Corporation Counsel Mark Tabakin will be leaving his current part time position with the city, town officials confirmed today.
Town officials said that Tabakin was unable to remain at his position due to the current administration’s desire for a fulltime city attorney. First Assistant Corporation Counsel Melissa Longo will serve as interim Corporation Counsel while the city conducts a search to identify a candidate for the position.
“Mark Tabakin has done a remarkable job in his part-time capacity as corporation counsel,” said Mayor Dawn Zimmer in a memo to the City Council, “and I intend to call on his expertise whenever it is approporatite.”
The memo also said that Tabakin and his firm, Weiner Lesniak, will continue serving the city whenever appropriate. – Stephen LaMarca
