Participate in Junior Prep Day and help a young person find their path

Dear Editor:
Have you ever wanted to give back to the community but didn’t know how? So did I, that’s why 9 years ago I created the Senior/Junior Prep Day, an exciting volunteer effort to bring together various members of the community to meet with the junior class of Hoboken High School to help them plan the next phase in their lives. Volunteers from all walks of life gather in the high school gym to meet with the students (either one on one or in small groups) to discuss resume writing, interview techniques, what to wear to a first interview or just to chat about their careers.
Participating in Junior Prep Day is your chance to really make a difference in the life of a Hoboken High School Junior! Come share your life experience with some fresh young faces….you won’t regret it. Guaranteed!
Whether you are self-employed or work for a corporation, artist or athletic director, banker or hair stylist, have worked for two years or about to retire, you have something vital to share with these students…your experience! Everything you have learned along the way can be of interest to someone starting out! Most important are having a wide variety of volunteers on that day to give the students an idea of the opportunities open to them.
In return, you will meet some amazing, talented, intelligent and motivated kids looking for some pointers and direction. If previous Junior Prep Days are any indication, it is an experience you won’t soon forget.
Interested?
Please join us on Thursday, April 19th at 8:30 a.m. in the High School Gymnasium. The students will arrive between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Hoboken High School is located on 9th and Clinton Streets in Hoboken.
