Funeral services took place April 6 for Phyllis Verdi, 89. She passed April 3 at her home. Mrs. Verdi was born and raised in Jersey City before moving to North Plainfield in 1975. She was a 3rd grade school teacher in the Jersey City Catholic school system, and later retired as a teachers aide from the Scotch Plains Board of Education. She was a member of the North Plainfield Seniors, and a communicant of St. Joseph RC Church in North Plainfield. She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas D. Verdi in 2005. Surviving is a son Nicholas G. Verdi of South Plainfield, two daughters, Linda Verdi of North Plainfield, and Irene Scanlon of Randolph. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Michael Scanlon, John Digilio, and Erin Scanlon. Services will be 10:00 AM. Services arranged by the Scarpa Funeral Home, North Plainfield.
