Dear Editor:
I read with interest your article ‘No more Fukushimas, Anti-nuclear power peace walkers rest in Weehawken on 250-mile journey,’ The Weehawken Reporter, of March 11, 2012. But I fail to see the connection between peace and the production of electric power using nuclear energy. No more Fukushimas is evocative of No More Hibakusha, the slogan of the survivors of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but there is no similarity between the two. The Weehawken Citizens for Peace have been holding peace vigils at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Weehawken on and off since 1968 in opposition to war. If peace is the motive, I invite the No more Fukushimas group to join us Sunday evenings around 5 p.m., where we have been holding vigils most Sundays since March 2003 in opposition to our misadventures in Iraq and Afghanistan.
