Dear Editor:
I cannot let this incident go unnoticed and unpraised. On January 10th I had an unfortunate accident on Third & Hudson Street, where I fell on a broken sidewalk. I made it home but was in terrible pain so I called an ambulance, with the help of my dear friends Elaine De Pinto and Bob Meyers.
What ensued that entire day was an eye opener as to what the wonderful Ambulance people are doing to serve the people of Hoboken. Never have I met such good, decent, dedicated and caring professionals. This was the first time I have required this service although I do send a small check each year. My check will be considerably larger this year in order to say thank you. I needed help twice in the same day – I had different people each time, and the second crew were just as efficient and caring as the first. I wish I had all their names, which I did at the time, but pain interferes with our actions and I have no idea what I did with them.
In closing I must mention the three top people who were instrumental in helping to make a terrible ordeal move along smoothly so that I at least had help quickly when I needed it most. These are three life- long members of the Hoboken Ambulance Corps, Mr. Tom Molta, President; Joe Shine, Police Dispatcher; Ed White, Trustee.
The Ambulance Corps is now having their yearly plea for donations. Remember, these people are unpaid volunteers who work long hours so that they may be of service to the people of Hoboken. One never knows when their help will be needed. I didn’t and I am so grateful to them.
