BAYONNE — Police detectives interviewed residents in buildings near Avenue E and East 18th Street on Thursday, trying to determine the source of blood found along the sidewalk. A police K-9 unit was brought onto the scene in an attempt to find a victim of what may have been a shooting.
Neighbors said police detectives asked if they had heard any gun shots.
The K-9 dog sniffed around the spots of blood circled in chalk on the sidewalk, then slowly worked its way up the street in the direction of Broadway, as police officer taped off the sidewalk and directed pedestrians away from the suspected crime scene.
