To the Editor:
On Sunday, Feb. 19, the Ray Greaves Civic Association hosted a benefit for one of Bayonne’s youngest citizens, Cavan Perera, who is battling an aggressive form of Leukemia. Cavan is the son of Vasantha Perera, owner of Andrew’s Cafe.
The benefit held at the Mediterraneo Restaurant was a show of support for the Perera family in their struggle to pay enormous medical bills, as well as deal with the emotional strain Cavan’s illness has on his mother, father, and younger brother Andrew.
As standard bearer of the Ray Greaves Association, I’m extremely proud of the compassion and overwhelming support shown to the Perera family on Sunday evening.
I want to thank the Mediterraneo Restaurant for their hospitality, the association’s members who are always willing to go that extra mile when help is needed, and to all who attended, as well as those who couldn’t but sent monetary donations.
We wish the best for the Perera family and send them our prayers and support now and in the future.
Ray Greaves
