GUTTENBERG AND BEYOND — A resident of the Galaxy Towers in Guttenberg is in the intensive care unit of Jersey City Medical Center after being struck by a vehicle Monday, according to Mark Rabson, a spokesperson for Jersey City Medical Center.
According to a Guttenberg Police report, Peter Sacco, 89, had been struck by a car last Monday, Feb. 20 at approximately 3:45 p.m. The car had been making a lefthand turn onto Bellevue Avenue from Ferry Road near Boulevard East. The driver claimed to have not seen Sacco crossing the road.
Guttenberg Police Captain Joel Magenheimer stated that Sacco had sustained significant head trauma.
A witness claims to have seen the pedestrian flipped into the air after being struck by the vehicle at a speed of 15-20 miles per hour, the report says.
Rabson stated that Sacco is in critical condition and is currently receiving around-the-clock medical attention. -Stephen LaMarca
