On Feb. 5th the annual “Battle of the Bantams” tournament took place in Pompton Plains at Pequannock High School. Over 10 different towns and wrestling programs took part in this event. Accompanied by Coach Efrain Acosta, four North Bergen wrestlers participated and placed in their respective division/brackets. Jerzey Ryan, 5, placed 1st in his division/bracket, defeating wrestlers from Garfield & Pequannock to claim the gold medal. Aiden Cruz, 6, placed 2nd in his respective division/bracket. Derek Rodriguez, 5, placed 3rd in his respective division/bracket. Amanda Pace, 8, placed 5th in her respective division/bracket, earning 2 pins.
