Meeting about southwest redevelopment in Hoboken canceled after too many people show up

HOBOKEN – It’s been six years since the entire southwest redevelopment process started, so what’s another few weeks?
The Hoboken Planning Board had to cancel the scheduled hearing on the southwest redevelopment plan on Thursday night after too many property owners and other interested parties attended the first scheduled hearing since the redevelopment study was released. The number of people exceeded what the fire code allows for the City Hall conference room in the basement.
A preview of the meeting appeared in the Jan. 29 Hoboken Reporter in a cover story .
The next hearing is scheduled for Feb. 23, and will be held at the Multi-Service Center (124 Grand St.) to accommodate the anticipated large crowd. – Ray Smith
