It started with a small group of Hoboken residents

Dear Editor:
A number of years ago (more than I care to member) a group of Hoboken residents including State Senator Bernard Kenny Jr, the late Maurice Fitzgibbons, members of the Cunning family, myself and others came up with the ideas of celebrating a modest St. Patrick’s day parade in Hoboken with a few bands and marching groups and a bit of partying afterward. No big deal. It was done with cooperation from many people and it was fun.
As the years passed, the parade and involvement by the city grew. I became a bystander.
How sad to see such a community endeavor be squashed by the misbehavior of a few individuals. For a city this size, we certainly have an oversized police force and civil workers to handle difficulties. What really gives?
