Hoboken residents invited to review final conceptual design of 1600 Park and Hoboken Cove

HOBOKEN – Residents can review and give feedback on the final conceptual design for 1600 Park and Hoboken Cove – two proposed uptown park locations near the northern entrances of the city – on Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. in the basement conference room of City Hall, 94 Washington St.

As part of the conceptual design, a soccer field is proposed for the 1600 Park location, which is between the Park Avenue and Willow Avenue bridges that connect Hoboken and Weehawken.

Designs for the park space were prepared by Imbiano Quigley, a landscape architecture firm from Bedford Hills, N.Y., who then presented multiple proposals to a stakeholder committee. The committee has worked to identify a final conceptual design, which will be on display on Monday night.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer said last month that the city is working with the county to have a traffic light installed near the park on 16th Street and Park Avenue due to safety concerns, and said she would not open the park until a traffic light is installed. — Ray Smith
