Why was the higher bid for Christ Hospital rejected?

Dear Editor:
Corruption seems to be the never-ending train in Jersey City. From the early days of “machine politics” of Mayor Hague, all the way up to 2009 when we witnessed the unraveling of several of our elected officials. Now, not only do we have more FBI investigations in Jersey City regarding Brennan and Gaughan’s involvement with Joseph Bigica, we have something that would make even Mayor Hague, who was an advocate of taking care of his own, turn in his grave.
Christ Hospital has turned down a purchase offer from Hudson Hospital Holdco LLC which can be equated to being from Christ himself. This offer to put into perspective is 600 percent more than what Prime Healthcare Services has offered, an offer that puts Christ Hospital back in the black and would allow it to continue to service the community.
When one looks at the Christ Hospital website, you find the following as their mission statement: Christ Hospital, a community healthcare provider, exists to promote and improve the health of the residents of Jersey City and the surrounding communities through the effective provision of quality healthcare. Then in the very first bullet in their values it says: We put our patients first.
Putting all of this information into perspective, one has to wonder what unknown benefits Mr. Peter Kelly is receiving out of this.
Care to answer that question, Mr. Kelly?
