Hoboken’s 850 New Spots

Dear Editor:
Thank you for publishing the story regarding the City of Hoboken’s attempt to create an estimated 850 new parking spots.
As you are well aware, Hoboken is notorious for its lack of parking for both residents and visitors.
For this reason, as your Assemblyman, I have championed legislation that gives municipalities the flexibility to address parking issues. As a result of my advocacy, a bipartisan measure I introduced that allows municipalities to determine their own parking distances from certain crosswalks, intersections and “stop” signs is now State law.
As a result of this new law, which went into effect two years ago, the City of Hoboken is now able to create 850 new parking spots for residents. I’m glad to see Hoboken taking advantage of what other municipalities have already done.
I look forward to continuing to provide common-sense solutions to Hoboken resident’s everyday problems.

Sincerely,
Ruben J. Ramos, Jr.
Assemblyman, 33rd District
