A funeral mass was held Jan. 16 at St. John the Baptist Church, Jersey City, for Esther C. Hamilton, 96. She passed away Jan. 12 at Compassionate Care Hospice at Cusack Care Center in Jersey City. Born in Aprigliano, Italy, she immigrated to the U.S. in 1920 and settled in Jersey City where she remained until 1945 when she moved to Newark for ten years. Upon her marriage in 1955, Esther returned to Jersey City where she has remained. Esther worked during the war years for RCA and later for M. Chanin in New York City, then for Chase Manhattan Bank in the Trust Department, from where she retired in 1977. Esther leaves her son Henry J. Hamilton and his wife Kathleen; her two grandsons, James and his wife Jessica and Nicholas Hamilton. She is predeceased by her husband Henry S. Hamilton; parents, Raffaella and Anthony Morelli; four brothers, Louis, Rocco, Vicent and Ernest and two sisters, Elvira Vigna and Anna Vigna.
