HOBOKEN AND BEYOND – Some people welcome new neighbors to the block by bringing over cookies, cake, and other baked goods. Buddy Valastro, the famous “Cake Boss,” is no different.
When Office Depot opens on the next block from Carlo’s Bakery on Jan. 21 at 59 Washington St., the site of the former Barnes and Noble, Valastro will attend the grand opening, serving up slices of an Office Depot-themed cake.
The first 100 customers will have a chance to meet Valastro and receive an autograph, according to a press release.
The ribbon cutting ceremony begins at 10 a.m., followed by an autograph session and cake sampling from Valastro from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
To receive an autograph, customers must have a wristband, which will be available starting at 10 a.m. (the store opens at 9 a.m.)
The New Jersey chapter of the Make-a-Wish Foundation will also be recognized with a $1,000 donation from the Office Depot Foundation. – Ray Smith
