We pay thru the nose to support a dysfunctional system

Dear Editor:
Shortly after I wrote my letter regarding my troubles in getting a court date to appeal my traffic ticket, I got a call from the employee who I had emailed several times. I was scheduled for Friday of that week. Councilman Fulop’s office, who I had contacted, also assisted in this regard.
Even though I got 2 computerized notices in 3 days to appear, my name was not on the roster for that Friday’s traffic court, another short coming of their system. I do some process improvement work, so I take note of these things. When I got my turn, the judge dismissed my ticket before I had a chance to state my case! I had prepared with pictures etc. My understanding of what the judge stated is that the statute used for my offense, had been repealed in 2010. So it appears that we have some rogue Parking Authority officer randomly giving out tickets in the downtown area using an erroneous code/statute. The ticket was from a hand held computer and the software should have been updated! Guess the PA doesn’t expect downtowners to go to the trouble of fighting their tickets. This has happened before and made the papers.
At a local party over the weekend, I found out that the court has several Asst Court Administrators in addition to the Sr Court Administrator plus a staff to answer phones!! There will never be enough tax money to afford this level of incompetence. Thousands of local residents are out of work, while we pay thru the nose to support a dysfunctional system. Like I said before, we need a revolution in Jersey City.
By the way, the traffic court session that afternoon was all of 1.5 hours, which included a 10 minute break and we started 10 minutes late.
