A funeral mass was held Jan. 7 at St. John the Baptist Church for Thomas J. O’Neill, 94. He passed away Jan. 3. Thomas was a lifelong Jersey City resident and a graduate of Dickinson High School and Seton Hall University. He was a systems analyst for Railway Express in New York for 35 years and after was employed by the Post Office in Kearny before his retirement. A Navy veteran of World War II, Thomas was a longtime communicant of St. John the Baptist Church as well as a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Holy Name Society. He was predeceased by his wife Mary (nee Cox) O’Neill; father of Maureen O’Neill, Thomas J. O’Neill, Jr., M. Catherine Donatelli and husband Michael; brother of the late Catherine, Loretta, Patrick and Cornelius; friend of Cecelia and Deo Hanson; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
