WEST NEW YORK — Former West New York town attorney Julio Morejon was appointed attorney of the Board of Education during last week’s meeting, and Mayor Felix Roque has nominated attorney Gilberto Garcia as the new town attorney.
Roque recently hired Garcia to investigate allegations that Commissioner Ruben Vargas and his wife owe thousands of dollars in safety violation fines for property they own.
“Mr. Gilberto is highly qualified for the position and both appointments are in the best interest of the town,” Roque said.
A resolution to officially instate Gilberto as town attorney will be brought this Tuesday at the town Board of Commissioners meeting.
