HFA students know how to make fund raising and raising school spirit fun! Their turkey challenge is connected to their annual pep rally contest, where grade levels compete for points. Each grade level receives a fake turkey decorated with feathers. The goal is to purchase a turkey feather from your grade level turkey. Each turkey feather costs 25 cents and bestows points to that grade. Grade levels can also purchase feathers from opposing team turkeys for 50 cents each. These 50 cent feathers are then placed on the purchasing team’s turkey decreasing point accumulation for competing teams.
Collected money was donated to Assumption Parish in Bayonne and the Hoboken Soup Kitchen in Hoboken. HFA students also collected and donated assorted food items to these two charitable organizations. All collected items helped to provide the less fortunate with hot holiday meals. As the students of Holy Family Academy sat down to enjoy their own Thanksgiving meals they knew they had helped raise school spirit and helped their fellow brothers and sisters in the Bayonne and Hoboken areas.
