Funeral services were held Dec. 12 for John L. Churuti, Sr. of Tannersville, Pa. Formerly of Jersey City, he died peacefully on Dec. 8. John was born in Jersey City and lived most of his life there. For the last 21 years he resided in Pennsylvania. He was a service worker for Canada Dry in Hackensack for over 30 years, retiring 25 years ago. John was a US Army veteran serving his country during WWII from 1942 to 1945. He was the husband of the late Lorraine M. Churuti; father of John L. Churuti Jr., Ronald Churuti and Nanette Kalucki; grandfather of David Kalucki, Toni Lynn Barber, Scott Kalucki, John L. III, Sean, Colleen, Kelsey, and Brittany Churuti; great grandfather of Royal, Spencer, Dylan, and Jaden. Services arranged by the Houghton Funeral Home, Jersey City.
