HOBOKEN – Five residents were displaced by a fire in southwest Hoboken on Saturday morning.
The fire was at a two-story, wooden structure near the corner of First Street and Jackson Street.
On Saturday morning, a city press release advised residents that First Street between Jackson and Monroe streets would be closed to pedestrian traffic. Residents in the area were advised to keep windows closed, as the fire generated significant smoke.
The displaced residents are temporarily staying at Iglesia Pentecostal Latina Americano. Hoboken Office of Emergency Management and Volunteer Ambulance Corps have set up a shelter in the church and are coordinating with the Red Cross, according to the release. – Ray Smith
