A funeral took place Oct. 31 for Catherine Pawlina, 90, formerly of Jersey City. She died Oct. 28, at the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains. For many years, she owned and operated a candy store on Van Horne Street in Jersey City. She was the daughter of the late Theodore and Anna Olesko Pawlina; the godmother of Michelle Ann Szczutkowski Rivera; and the friend of Jennie Troolin.
