Funeral mass was held Oct. 21 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church, Whiting, for Joan M. Brauer, 82. She died Oct. 18 at her home. Born in the Bronx, she lived in Jersey City before moving to Whiting in 1999. She attended St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Whiting and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and also served as a Eucharistic Minister for the church. Joan was an active member of the American Irish Club in Whiting and was den mother for over 20 years for Cub Scout Pack 70, St. John the Baptist Church in Jersey City. She was predeceased by her husband, August ‘Gus’ Brauer in June of 2007. Surviving are: two sons, Thomas of Whiting and Michael of Bayonne; and also surviving is her sister, Marie Scrufari of Hoboken; her nieces, Cathy, Marie, Patricia and Ann Marie, as well as her nephews, John Jr., William Jr., and Raymond.
